Early-game rune farming can be an important part of levelling up your character or buying new gear. Here are some of the best ways to earn a good amount of runes fast.

The first place is near the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace. Rest here to reset the enemies undoubtedly chasing you, then look far over in the distance for a giant bird stalking around. Shoot it with an arrow to earn elden ring runes.

The Bestial Sanctum Site of Grace

One of the fastest ways to earn runes in Elden Ring is by farming enemy corpses. This process is incredibly easy and only requires you to be able to fast travel. This location, shown off by YouTuber PowerPyx, nets you a lot of elden ring runes early on. It does require that you are at least level 20, and you have the trusty steed Torrent, but it is an excellent option for magic builds.

Essentially, you can head to the Bestial Sanctum Site of Grace and kill the robed beasts that are fighting each other. Each one will net you a ton of runes, and they will respawn very quickly. This method won't be available to you before beating the final boss, however. The next fastest rune-making method is much later in the game and requires a specialized weapon. It involves slaying a giant bird and its brethren, netting you a huge amount of runes. It also requires you to have the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace and Rest there to reset the enemies that are undoubtedly chasing you.

The Palace Approach Ledge-Road

This is a great rune-farming spot that can be done at any level, although it's best at late game. Just steps away from the Site of Grace (avoid the boss if you don't want to be swarmed by enemies) is a large field full of small, robed creatures that carry either scythes or chains. They can be quite strong, but they aren't hostile and are easy to kill for a high payout, especially with a summon spirit or area-of-effect skills.

To maximize the amount of buy elden ring runes you earn, make sure to bring the Sacred Relic Sword and have it equipped with its Wave of Gold Ash of War skill, which increases rune rewards by 20%. It is also recommended that you have the Golden Scarab talisman to increase your rune acquisition even further. Once you've killed all of the enemies in this area, rest at the Site of Grace to respawn them and repeat. It's easy to net a million runes in 10 minutes here!

The Sleeping Albinaurics

In the area directly northeast of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road site of grace, there is a group of sleeping Albinauric soldiers that can be farmed at a jaw-dropping rate. They won't wake up until you attack them, and they are surprisingly easy to kill at low levels even without a backstab skill. Each death also nets over 17,000 runes (on NG, anyway). The best part is that there's a giant bird enemy in the distance that can be made to fall off the cliff for loads more runes.

If you have a gold Scarab talisman and the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot consumable, this farm is incredibly efficient, and can easily net players more than a million elden ring runes in a single session. It's worth the journey from Limgrave and is especially ideal for magic builds since the enemies are so easy to kill. Just be sure to rest at the site of grace to reset the enemies.

The Bird

Even at later stages of the game it's still useful to have a steady stream of runes. Whether it's for levelling up your weapons or traditional character levelling, you'll need a lot of them. Fortunately, the game has plenty of quick and easy ways to earn them.

For example, you can find a giant bird that is essentially the same as the ones in The Gatefront Ruins but with the added bonus of being able to recoup any runes lost while fighting it. This critter isn't hard to kill at any level and a single shot from your most powerful weapon will smack it in the face for a nice profit. You can also go to the first village from Bestial Sanctum and simply pick off the soldiers defending the shrine. This can rake in over 3,000 runes in less than a minute. Repeat this process as needed. You'll also want to make sure you're keeping up on your Smithing levels, too, as that requires a decent number of elden ring runes.
